(make sure to upvote to support the user) <\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We would like to answer these questions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Do we become more forgiving with how we rate our books as we age? Or do we become harsh critics?<\/li>\n<li>How does the rating average change by publication year, is old better than new?\u00a0 Is the availability of books playing a bigger role in the rating averages?<\/li>\n<li>What book can you recommend to someone is his late 30\u2019s<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Data Prep<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As a little disclaimer, the dataset is not in the best shape. There are some bad quality fields and duplicated records in the unique keys. <br>We also took the liberty to exclude some irrelevant and seemingly wrong inputs i.e. User Age = 300. dataset are distributed in each decade, for that purpose we created bins based on the field\u00a0 BX-Books[Year of Publication].<br><strong>Bins<\/strong>: right click the year of publication from the field pane and select new group, select group type = bin, bin type: size of bins and bin size = 10<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Column chart<\/strong><br><strong>Axis<\/strong>: Year of Publication(Bins)<br><strong>Values:<\/strong> Count of BX-Book ratings[ISBN] \u00a0<br>The visual is <strong>sorted by<\/strong> Year of Publication (BIN)<br><strong>Data colors<\/strong>: Conditional formatting based on the count of books to generate the different shades shown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>2.Readers Distribution by Age group<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We do the same as with the previous chart but now with the readers rating the books, we created bins for the age(size of 10), in our case Do we become more forgiving with how we rate our books as we age? Or do we become harsh critics?<\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We see a slightly upward trend in the rates as we age:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-359\" src=\"https:\/\/powergi.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/1.1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"542\" height=\"267\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s interesting to note, that we do start by giving out better ratings and as we progress thru our 20\u2019s, rates average start to drop (use age distribution to filter):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-360\" src=\"https:\/\/powergi.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/1.2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"535\" height=\"261\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our 30\u2019s are more or less steady:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-361\" src=\"https:\/\/powergi.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/1.3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"561\" height=\"273\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And start to climb back up as we move towards our 60\u2019s:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-362\" src=\"https:\/\/powergi.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/1.4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"562\" height=\"275\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-orange-color\">2. Is old better than new?<\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Let\u2019s look at 2 decades, 80\u2019s &amp; 90\u2019s<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It seems that we are getting better rates in the late 90\u2019s but part of this increase may come from the difference in # books rated (2k early 80\u2019s vs 14k late 90\u2019s).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-363\" src=\"https:\/\/powergi.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/2.1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"551\" height=\"228\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-orange-color\">3.
