The file looks as follows:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-7912\" src=\"https:\/\/powergi.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/1-3-165x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"165\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/powergi.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/1-3-165x300.png 165w, https:\/\/powergi.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/1-3.png 283w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 165px) 100vw, 165px\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"background-image: initial;background-position: initial;background-size: initial;background-repeat: initial;background-attachment: initial\">The file is received in XLSX format and we want Power Automate to convert it into CSV format and save the output in SharePoint.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Aptos, sans-serif;font-size: 11pt;font-style: inherit;font-weight: inherit\">For this video and blog, we\u2019re working with SharePoint lists, but the same logic can be applied regardless of the data source being referenced, such as SQL or Dataverse.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-02e03cc elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"02e03cc\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Solution description<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d324364 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"d324364\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Preparing the Excel File and Creating the Office Script<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d645730 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"d645730\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<ul><li>The Excel file is uploaded to SharePoint.<\/li><li>We use the \u201cAutomate\u201d tab to create the Office Script.<\/li><li>We create an Office Script dynamically convert the flat data range into a table with a fixed name (\u201cDataTable\u201d) \u2013 the getUsedRange function is leveraged to handle the dynamic number of rows the file may have.<\/li><\/ul><p>The script is saved and stored in OneDrive by default, but we move it to SharePoint.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c2bd546 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"c2bd546\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Create the Power Automate Flow<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-07b69b5 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"07b69b5\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<ul><li>Add <strong>trigger<\/strong>when a new file \u00a0item is created in SharePoint folder (or any other trigger depending on your needs).<\/li><li>Use the \u201cRun script from SharePoint library\u201d action to dynamically run the previously created Office Script on the newly uploaded Excel file.<\/li><li>Use the \u201cList rows present in a table\u201d Excel action to read the rows from the dynamically created table.<\/li><li>We have to enable Pagination with a row limit (e.g., 1,500) to accommodate large datasets beyond the default row limit for the Excel action.<\/li><li>Using the Select action, columns are customized to exclude unwanted system-generated columns and optionally rename headers in the CSV output.<\/li><\/ul><p>Finally, we add \u00a0\u201cCreate file\u201d SharePoint action to save the generated CSV in the same folder as the original Excel file.<\/p><p>Our expertise in Power Automate and <a href=\"https:\/\/powergi.net\/microsoft-power-platform-consulting-services\/\"><strong>Power Platform consulting services<\/strong><\/a> enables us to tailor solutions for complex data transformations, like converting XLSX to CSV.
