What is Copilot Studio?
Microsoft’s oficial definition for Copilot Studio is “Copilot Studio is the AI agent platform for Copilot, where you can build agents that help do work”. In short, Copilot Studio is where you build your “own Copilots”.
What’s the difference between Microsoft Copilot and Copilot Studio?
Microsoft Copilot or Copilot (without “Studio” in the name) is the ready-to-use AI agent built by Microsoft, the small icon that you can find in all the apps you are most likely already using: Outlook, Excel or PowerPoint.
Copilot Studio is the tool to build your own AI agents. For example, an agent to assist your team process expense submission or an agent to answer questions about your website or your HR policies and benefits.
What’s the difference between an AI model and an agent?
An AI Model can perform many type of tasks such as reading an invoice from a PDF document, summarizing text or finding out if a review is positive or negative. But these tasks are usually isolated tasks. AI Models don’t have memory and do not take any action; models just return a response.
AI Agents (AI assistants), use AI as part of a broader system that includes context and memory. Agents can understand, follow a conversation, and perform actions.
What’s the difference between Microsoft Foundry and Copilot Studio?
Microsoft Foundry and Copilot Studio are both part of Microsoft’s artificial intelligence ecosystem, but they serve different purposes.
Copilot Studio is about applying AI through a user-friendly and low code platform to create agents and automate tasks.
Microsoft Foundry is an enterprise AI platform where custom AI models, agents, and AI workflows can be developed and deployed. Microsoft Foundry is a more extensive tool for all AI-related tasks, it’s like Microsoft’s hub for AI services.
How long does it usually take to develop and deploy a Copilot Studio solution?
We have an average POC (proof of concept) turnaround time of 3-6 weeks for Copilot Studio solutions, and this can vary depending on the use case complexity.
Copilot Studio is a low-code platform for configuring, building and deploying agents, so you can have an AI agent help un your day-to-day work in no time!
How much is Copilot Studio?
Microsoft Copilot (the small icon bugging you in all apps) costs 30 USD per user per month. This is Microsoft’s out of the box assistant.
When working with custom agents built with Copilot Studio, these work through “credits”. Credits are used whenever an agent performs a task or generates a response.
The options for Copilot Studio as of January of 2026 are:
- Capacity pack of 200 USD / month. This pack comes with 25,000 copilot credit.
- The “pay-as-you-go” model, billed based on the usage. Each credit is billed at $0.01 USD.
- A “pre-purchase” plan, where you buy some capacity in advanced. There are different capacity tiers that go from $2,850.
What do I need to get started with Copilot Studio?
You need the following to get started with Copilot Studio:
- Microsoft 365 license (organization or education account).
- Identify a use case for a Copilot Studio agent
- Copilot Studio license or free trial
